In Luke 12:8-12, Jesus instructs His disciples to confess Him before men. HE goes on to say in verse 11 that the disciples will be brought before magistrates, and various authorities. In fact, Jesus uses the word “when” with reference to appearing before men – as if to say it is only a matter of time. He ends, by saying that they should however not be concerned about what to say, for the Holy Spirit will teach them what to say in that very hour.
I am fully persuaded that every one of us, who call on the name of the Lord, will at some point in our lives stand in the presence of people of influence. Our instruction from the Lord is clear – to blaze brightly in their presence. We have been set alight by the Lord, when we received the Light of the World as our Saviour. We were baptized with fire, into Light, and became Light bearers. Jesus blazed before Pilate, as He unflinchingly declared the truth to him. Paul did the same before the Roman authorities Felix and Agrippa.
We then, are as human torches passed by the Spirit of God from one location and person to another. The fuel that keeps us blazing comes from the Spirit of God. He grants us the wisdom and the words with which we testify. All we need be, are willing vessels.
Have a great day!
