Luke 4:33-34 reads as follows: ” Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice, 34 saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” “.

Light and darkness, are like oil and water, they just don’t mix. We see this aptly illustrated in the verses above, when Jesus – The Light of the World – steps into the room, darkness runs. Light (Jesus) destroys darkness. In fact, Jesus has this sort of impact on darkness everywhere He goes. Disease, death, and all manner of evil flee in His presence. Anything that is not born of Light  is burned up by His Light.

I imagine, that it was not the man with the unclean spirit’s first visit to the synagogue, and his condition, for want of a better description was never revealed. But Light is peculiar like that, it searches out darkness, reaching into every crevice of our life and the lives of others, and exposes anything not born of Light. Darkness can not overcome Light, for Light triumphed on the cross.

The Lord wants to conform every aspect of our hearts to His, and every now and then His Holy Spirit, and / or His word would shed Light on an area in our lives that is not fully in the light. When He does this, it is best to yield to the revelation. It is best, to thank Him for exposing the thing in our life that was hidden, to thank Him for the grace to remove it, and then to allow Him to remove it. It is the most advanced form of lazer surgery!
